It was designed through scaled model-making, then translated into a vectorial file using Rhino, then into a RFEM to calculate 177km/hrs winds and earthquake forces. Location: Hubei, China. Budget: 3,500 USD. Material: Local moso bamboo. Span: 9.5m ---------------------------- This design is based on the "Fish Beam". Developed in Germany in the 19th century. The lack of wood during industrial revolution obligated to think what could they do with 15 cm diameter woods. 1970's Reforestation began in Europe. 1990's Jorg Stamm interpreted it with Guadua in Colombia. 2018 We are using local moso during the revitalization of Chinese traditional villages.

Made out of moso bamboo in Hubei province, China, 2017. This bridge interprete the fish truss learned from the Guadua in Colombia.

Profoundly thankful for the opportunity provided by John Shao at University of HongKong, and Xavier Pino, one of the few highest standards in construction with bamboo in the world. Incredible physical experience yet intelectual, planning and execution of structural experiments with Moso Bamboo, the more productive bamboo variety of China.
